Remains of King Alfred the Great believed to be found

Archaeologists say they may have found the pelvis bone of King Alfred the Great, who ruled England from 871 to 899 AD.

The team who exhumed the unmarked grave at a church in Winchester say they believe the bone is either that of Alfred or his son Edward the Elder.

Duchess of Cambridge in labor

Today.com: The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted into a London hospital early Monday in the early stages of labor, a palace official confirmed.

With her husband, Prince William, at her side, the 31-year-old was taken to a private wing of St. Mary’s hospital, the same London facility where William and his brother, Prince Harry, were born.

Prince Harry leaves Afghanistan after 20-week tour of duty

Prince Harry has left Afghanistan after a 20-week tour of duty as a co-pilot gunner in Apache attack helicopters, the British Ministry of Defence said tonight.

In just-released, candid interviews conducted with several news organizations, Harry addressed an incident last year where he was photographed naked in a Las Vegas hotel room: “I probably let myself down, I let my family down, I let other people down.”

Queen breaks with centuries-old tradition, joins UK Cabinet meeting

NBC News: Queen Elizabeth II sat in on a UK Cabinet meeting for the 1st time during her reign Tuesday. A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said she joined the meeting after an invitation from ministers who wanted to present her with a gift celebrating her 60 years on the throne.

According to video footage, UK PM David Cameron said, “We think the last time the monarch attended the cabinet was in 1781 during the American War of Independence.”

All ads are suspended on Australian station linked to nurse’s death in UK

Radio network Austereo has suspended all ads on 2DayFM in response to advertiser boycotts following the suspected suicide of a British nurse caught up in the royal prank call scandal, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Earlier Saturday, Coles - a major Australian grocery chain - said it was withdrawing ads from the station.

TODAY: Palace officials announced today that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child. The duchess was admitted Monday to a Central London hospital with severe morning sickness, according to a statement. As the pregnancy is in its ‘very early stages,’ she will stay in the hospital for several days.
The new baby will become third in line to the throne, following Prince William and Prince Charles.
