Billboard: Beyoncé unexpectedly released her fifth self-titled album exclusively on iTunes early Friday without prior announcement. Billed as an “exclusive visual album,” the release features 14 songs and 17 videos. Collaborators include Jay Z, Drake and Frank Ocean.
CTV: Canadian astronaut Cmdr. Chris Hadfield is leaving the International Space Station with the flourish of a rock star, releasing a polished music video tribute to his months in space in the final hours before his return to Earth.
Sunday’s passing of the torch marks the end of Hadfield’s role as the pilot of the massive orbiting research station since he took over on March 13, becoming the first Canadian to command the ISS.
During his mission, the 53-year-old took part in a number of experiments, installations and repairs while delighting and entertaining fans around the world with his seemingly non-stop updates on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

Dave Brubeck, a pioneering jazz musician who attained pop-star acclaim with recordings such as “Take Five” and “Blue Rondo a la Turk,” died this morning in Norwalk, Connecticut, his longtime manager-producer-conductor Russell Gloyd says. Brubeck was one day short of his 92nd birthday. He died of heart failure. Read more from the Chicago Tribune.

NBC News reports: If any one record could be said to be a harbinger of the musical and social upheavals of the 1960s, “Love Me Do” is it, since it kicked off the career of a rock group that many have called the greatest musical act of all time.
TODAY: Singer Fiona Apple was arrested Wednesday night for hashish possession and is being held in a county jail in Texas, a jail official tells TODAY. As of Thursday morning, Apple was still jailed, waiting for bond to be set.
TMZ.com reports the drug was reportedly found on her bus, where some marijuana was also said to be found.

Hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty found dead in NY apartment
Chris Lighty, longtime manager of 50 Cent, Diddy, Ja Rule and Mariah Carey, died Thursday morning after he shot himself during an argument with his ex-wife inside his Bronx, NY, apartment, sources tell the Daily News.
