US sprinter Tyson Gay and Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell have failed drug tests.
Gay denies knowingly taking a performance-enhancing drug, but has withdrawn from the upcoming World Championships. Powell confirmed he was one of five Jamaican athletes who had tested positive for a banned substance at last month’s national championships.
American cyclist Lance Armstrong was part of “the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen,” the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Wednesday in advance of issuing its long-awaited report detailing the evidence it amassed against the seven-time Tour de France champion.
