Gabrielle Giffords to Senate on gun control: ‘You must act’
JUST IN: Former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords addressed a U.S. Senate committee hearing on gun control, saying “speaking is difficult, but I need to say something important. Violence is a big problem. Too many children are dying. Too many children. We must do something.”
Giffords continued: “It will be hard, but the time is now. You must act. Be bold, be courageous. Americans are counting on you.”
Giffords’ husband Mark Kelly and NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre are among those expected to testify.

Tucson News Now: Convicted mass shooter Jared Loughner has been sentenced to 7 life terms in prison plus 140 years in the Arizona shooting that killed 6 and wounded 13, including former US Rep Gabrielle Giffords.
Giffords stood next to her husband Mark Kelly at the sentencing, as he read a statement. “For the first and last time, you’re going to hear from Gabby and me,” Kelly said. “Pay attention.”
