Dozens buried in landslide as heavy rains cause chaos in China
AFP: Between 30 and 40 people were buried in a landslide in China’s Sichuan province on Wednesday, the state news agency Xinhua reported, citing local officials.
The landslide in Zhongxing, in the southwestern province of Sichuan, was triggered by heavy rain, according to the fire brigade. Rescuers were at the scene, it added.
A Zhongxing official told AFP by phone that “so far we only know 11 families were buried and more than 200 residents have been evacuated”, but that workers were still searching for others
