Obama makes historic trip to Myanmar
Reuters: President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in Myanmar Monday. The trip marks the first time a US president has visited the country, which is also known as Burma.
Obama will meet with Myanmar’s President Thein Sein, as well as with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. He will close the trip by delivering a speech at the University of Yangon.
Officials say Obama is to announce the resumption of US aid programs to Myanmar, dependent on the continuation of democratic reforms in the country.
