Giant panda gives birth to cub at DC’s National Zoo

NBC Washington: The National Zoo’s female giant panda, Mei Xiang, gave birth to a panda cub — her second, following 5 pseudopregnancies in a row. Not to mention a whole lot of dashed hopes.

‘National Zoo staff can hear the cub but have not yet seen it as Mei has built a substantial nest in her den,’ the zoo said in a release.
