Samsung violated Apple UI patents for phones, tables, California jury rules
A jury in San Jose, CA, late Friday gave Apple Inc. an overwhelming victory in its patent fight with Samsung, ruling that the Korean company had copied UI features of the iPhone and iPad. Cupertino-based Apple was awarded $1.051 billion in damages.
After the verdict was read, Apple stock traded at an all-time high. More updates are here.
The battle between the two tech giants began in 2011 when Apple sued Samsung in multiple countries for copying the iPhone and iPad. Samsung counter-sued; earlier Friday, a South Korean court ordered Samsung to stop selling 10 products and barred Apple from selling four different products, Reuters reported.
