Sir Paul McCartney paid $1.57 for Opening Ceremony performance
AP: Many of the performers who took part in the London Olympics Opening Ceremony donated their time, including Sir Paul McCartney of the Beatles.
McCartney and the other performers received $1.57, the equivalent of a British pound, for their services.
“The nominal fee was offered to make the Olympics contracts binding — but pales in comparison to the millions big names like McCartney can command for a stadium gig.”
