Indian gang-rape victim’s condition deteriorating, hospital says

The condition of a 23-year-old Indian medical student, whose gang rape in New Delhi triggered nationwide protests, has deteriorated and there are signs her vital organs have failed, the Singapore hospital treating her says.

Reuters reports that family members “have been informed that her condition has deteriorated and they are currently by her side to encourage and comfort her,” Mount Elizabeth Hospital Chief Executive Officer Kelvin Loh said in a statement.

Delhi gang-rape victim dies in hospital in Singapore

BBC NewsThe 23-year-old woman gang-raped on a bus in India’s capital Delhi has died at a Singapore hospital, doctors say.

"The patient passed away peacefully at 4:45am on 29 Dec 2012," a statement from the hospital said. The patient’s family had been by her side, it added.

The 23-year-old had arrived in Singapore on Thursday after undergoing three operations in a Delhi hospital.

Men accused in Delhi rape case will face murder charges too

The six men accused of raping, assaulting a student in New Delhi who later died will now be charged with murder.
IBNLive reported that Indian police will file the formal charges on Jan. 3.
The attack, which occurred earlier this month, has triggered violent public protests in India that left one police officer dead.
The victim, a 23-year-old medical student died Saturday at a hospital in Singapore.
