Occupy LA Returns to Downtown, is met with police in riot gear and a citywide tactical alert

NBC Los Angeles: Los Angeles was placed on a citywide tactical alert Thursday night when hundreds of people, including Occupy LA protesters, gathered near Downtown LA as part of a demonstration by the group that set up camp on City Hall lawn late last year.

Shortly after 11 p.m., police ordered the crowd to disperse from the area.

"This kind of took us by surprise, we were not expecting them to show up tonight," said Officer Karen Rayner with LAPD.

Jennifer Lopez says she’s leaving ‘American Idol’

APJennifer Lopez is the second judge in two days to say she’s leaving “American Idol.” Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler announced he was leaving the Fox show on Thursday. “American Idol” has been TV’s most popular program for nearly a decade, but it slumped severely in the ratings last season.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints agree to 5-year, $100 million contract

Variety: Richard Zanuck, the producer of “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Jaws” and several Tim Burton films, died Friday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 77.

Ralph Lauren to make 2014 Olympic uniforms in the U.S.

Los Angeles Times:Following criticism for producing U.S. Olympic uniforms in China, designer Ralph Lauren announced Friday that uniforms for the U.S. Olympic team at the 2014 Winter Games will be made in the United States.

Sage Stallone, son of Sylvester Stallone, found dead in home
AP: Sage Stallone, the 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone, was found dead at his California home Friday, police say. Authorities are investigating the death but say there is no sign of forced entry or foul play.
Sage Stallone made his acting debut in “Rocky V” in 1990. He also appeared with his father in “Daylight” in 1996.
